Major Network Media There are two main groups that make up the political system in the United States, the left-wing and the right-wing. Both have very different views about how America should operate. People that support the left-wing ideas are known as liberals and/or democrats (Nicklin). The left-wing beliefs are usually promoting change and they are idealist (Nicklin). Sitting on the right-wing of our political system are republicans and/or conservatives (Nicklin). This party believes in equity and survival of the fittest (Nicklin). Many of the major networks have used their accessibility to the public in order to sway Americans towards the left-wing political agenda. This is an issue because people will actually believe the media†¦show more content†¦Conservatives believe in economic freedom. They believe that businesses should not be regulated, and they also believe that citizens should support themselves instead of depending upon the government for assistance (Nicklin ). Today’s media has a major impact on Americans. Journalists have tremendous influence over the media. It appears that they have begun to abuse their power in order to make people believe a certain way. Overall, professional journalism is mainly a democratic force (Foster). Journalists are very biased when they are writing, and they include their own opinions instead of using facts. Journalists use their power to advance liberal politics which is breaking the professional code (Foster). Journalists also tend to put the opinions of the owner of the magazine or website into their writings. Prior to 1900, journalists were given a large amount of freedom to control the news but they used their professional judgment to decipher the difference between the facts and the opinions (Foster). Today, journalists have much less freedom than two or three decades ago (Foster). There is a professional code that the journalists have to follow and it has been changed to conform to the politi cal requirements of the media owners (Foster).
